Prior to my wife, Denise and I purchasing the former Bellinger Rose Bed & Breakfast in the fall of 2021 the questions posed to us were: “Why Herkimer? What is in Herkimer? What is there to do in Herkimer? Are you sure Herkimer is the right place to purchase a B & B?” But there was one person, Mike, the co-owner of the “Grand Colony Bed & Breakfast” who said, “Buy it! There is plenty of business for both of us.”
Now, approximately 18 months later we have found that Herkimer is a perfect place for our Raindrops on Roses Bed & Breakfast! Since March 2022 we have had over 113 bookings, many of them multiple nights. In no particular order, people come for various reasons: reunions, weddings, funerals, Herkimer Diamond Mines, Beardslee Castle, antique centers, Erie Canal Boat Tour, Erie Canal Bicycle path, travelers from east to west, travelers west to east, travelers from north to south, travelers south to north, travelers to the Turning Stone Casino, Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame, the Fenimore Museum, Glimmerglass Opera, The Farmers Museum, Utica Stanley Theatre, Utica Adirondack Bank Auditorium, Utica University Nexus Center, Old Forge,… The reasons are endless which makes Herkimer a great place to own a Bed & Breakfast.
Since opening, we have added a Wine Tasting Room featuring two local wineries, Prospect Falls Winery and Rustic Ridge Winery. In addition, we offer beer from Heelpath Brewery located in Frankfort! Flights, glasses, tastings, chocolate pairing with the wines are many of our offerings. You will also find a light food menu. The chocolate is provided by one of our Bed & Breakfast guests who is a chocolatier from NYC! Unbelievable gourmet plant based Mexican chocolate!
