What's up, Paul "King"?

  • Age: 20s
  • Why Should We Feature You? I’m a recent local College graduate that decided to stay here. I chose Oneonta because I recognized how much value there is in being connected to the people around me. The idea of being connected to the people I cross paths with everyday is far more exciting than moving to a big city full of people I would never truly know.
  • What do you love about living here?: This county values arts and creativity. In this county, I feel that my ideas are heard and considered. I’ve recognized that being in a small community means that everybody is seen and respected as a real human being, as opposed to being another number, in a sea of people that lack empathy.
  • Favorite, local “must-visit” hot spots: Tinos!

Now, Where is Upstate, Again?

This is a hotly debated question. In the general sense, Upstate NY is the area north of the New York City metropolitan area. But in our world, Upstate NY is Herkimer, Oneida, and Otsego counties and the immediate outlying areas. We’re owning it.

We are located in the north-central part of the state. Utica, Rome, Herkimer, Little Falls, Cooperstown, and Oneonta are just some of our larger municipalities with an overall combined population of over 300,000. Just hours away from New York City, Boston, Toronto, Montreal, Buffalo, and Burlington, our location makes weekend getaways or even day trips accessible – not to mention a beautiful drive! If you’d rather sit back and relax, no worries as we have two Amtrak stations and two nearby airports in Syracuse and Albany.
