The Otsego County nonprofit community was still buzzing from the Community Foundation of Otsego County’s first nonprofit breakfast in November 2022, when, on Monday, May 22, CFOC hosted its second event at SUNY Oneonta. Over 80 representatives from 50 Otsego County nonprofits were in attendance. The big announcement: through a CFOC collaboration with the Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, Otsego nonprofits will be able to participate in Mohawk Valley Gives on September 20.
Mohawk Valley Gives, an existing and highly successful nonprofit giving day, launched in 2022. In the first year of Mohawk Valley Gives, the community came together and raised more than $630,000 in 24 hours and 100% of participating organizations in Herkimer and Oneida counties received a donation. This year, the Community Foundation of Otsego County is thrilled to have Otsego nonprofits be part of the event, and is excited to work with our Otsego nonprofits, businesses, donors, board members, and community residents to make our first-year participation a success. Otsego County nonprofits, with the assistance of CFOC, will engage the community in a 24-hour community-wide giving day taking place on September 20. Donors will be prompted to give via an online website, givemv.org, to support their favorite charities.
Otsego nonprofits wishing to participate in Mohawk Valley Gives should go to givemv.org by July 31, to complete a brief nonprofit registration survey. Upon approval, organizations can then move on to building out their nonprofit profile where donors will go on September 20 to give. Registration is completely free and all donations received on the giving day go directly to the nonprofit.
This is a remarkable opportunity for Otsego nonprofits to increase the visibility of the important work they do. By working together, the Community Foundation of Otsego County and the Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties are forging ahead to make our region more cohesive and stronger.
