On December 21, 2024, the Utica Police Community Outreach Team had the honor of assisting at a heartwarming toy giveaway event, bringing joy and holiday spirit to local families. The event was a true reflection of the power of community, as the department worked alongside other organizations to ensure the day was filled with smiles, laughter, and cheer.
In addition to helping with traffic control for the Horse and Carriage rides, the team served hot chocolate and handed out candy canes to keep the holiday vibes sweet. The sight of children’s eyes lighting up as they enjoyed their treats, with the winter chill in the air, made it clear that this was more than just an event—it was a moment where the spirit of Christmas truly came alive. The Utica Police Department is proud to support the city’s families and contribute to the holiday magic.
Another special moment came when the Utica Police Department was invited by the Utica Karen Baptist Church to be part of their Christmas Night celebration. Chief of Police Mark Williams and Sergeant Derek Schultz were thrilled to attend and witness the beautiful singing and captivating Christmas drama performances. The warmth and hospitality extended by the church created a festive atmosphere that truly embodied the season’s cheer.
The department is incredibly grateful for the chance to share in this celebration and learn more about the vibrant Karen culture. The kindness and community support demonstrated during the event showcased the true meaning of the holidays: coming together and spreading joy.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who made this day possible, especially the John E. Creedon Police Benevolent Association (PBA) for generously donating the hot chocolate and candy canes. Without their support, this event would not have been the sweet success it was.
As the holiday season continues, the Utica Police Department wishes everyone a safe, happy, and love-filled holiday. Events like these serve as a reminder that when we come together as a community, the true magic of the season shines brightly.
